2008 Farewell to our Seniors

Saying goodbye is never easy. And it wasn't easy for fellow teammates as they wished our seniors a fond farewell this evening at the Scotia-Glenville Field Hockey Banquet, held at the Glen Sanders Mansion.

Graduating this May will be Tartans: Brittany Schaub, Rachel Feurer, Sarah Case, Michelle Fraser, Abby Fisher, and Karly Cernik.

It is indeed a bittersweet goodbye for the field hockey seniors. After fours years of running up and down the field, it is time to zip up the bag one last time on Scotia's fields.

We all wish them well in their future endeavors.

As we stand one last time in our crimson and white,
We give our thanks to you-know-who.

Scotia, Scotia, oh where would we be?
Without you to teach us how to play field hockey!

YES, the daily morning scoring announcements! Ya better tune in!
For when else can you see Mrs. Davenport grin?

Certainly not as your being escorted to your 5th period class
As you were caught on the playing field without a pass.

As we seniors dribble down the hall for one last time
Wave goodbye to Mrs. Davenport as over the freshmen we climb.

We bury our field hockey sticks. Someone solemnly plays "Taps."
Simultaneously all the girls bust out the sports straps.

Scotia, Scotia, we bid you farewell.
Thanks for four great years, we've heard our final bell…

Okay, so maybe I'm not getting a Pulitzer for this one. When I think of Scotia seniors, I don't just think of field hockey games and sectionals. I think of people, lots of different people. I think of students so involved in extra-curriculars that they need to schedule in time to go to the bathroom. I think of students who go to school full-time and then work 40 hours a week to help support their families. I think of students whose TI-83's are such a permanent fixture in their hands that you often wonder if it's a form of life support, like if you took it away, they'd just keel over or something. I think of students who, "never met a Cliff's Notes they didn't like." I think of students and teachers who come to school everyday with a huge smile on their face, ready to get to work, proving that nothing can crush the human spirit. Once again, thank you and best wishes to you all!
