Why this website?
Do we have athletes that can play at the collegiate level? Sure we do.
This website can help you when applying for college field hockey scholarships or just wanting to make a college team. It doesn't matter how good you are, to get recruited and be in line for a field hockey scholarship you need to tell the college coaches who you are and why you deserve to be recruited. COACHES CANNOT EVALUATE YOUR POTENTIAL IF THEY DON'T KNOW YOU'RE OUT THERE and this is why this website was created, TO GET YOU NOTICED!
Not all athletic scholarships are full ride like football and basketball, so called "head count sports"; most are classed as "equivalency sports", like field hockey. Put simply this means that coaches can "share" their allocation between a larger number of players.
This is good news for the players. In division 1 we see that a coach can divide the "12" scholarships between a larger number of hockey players. Say 25 partial scholarships instead of 12 full ride. If you are good enough of course then a full ride scholarship is always on the cards.
There are 77 division 1 and 26 division 2 colleges that offer field hockey scholarships.
That's a total of 1,087.9 scholarships available in the NCAA.
Many high school athletes are overlooked each year because they didn't submit their athletic profile to the "right" colleges or left out vital information. It's also a fact that many colleges simply don't allocate all of their field hockey recruiting funds because "suitable" athletes didn't approach them. Many college coaches, scouts and recruits rely on websites to find information about players.
To get recruited, and be in line for college sports scholarships you MUST become known to the college coaches. Your sporting ability can only get you recruited if you tell the coaches who you are, and what you can do in the form of a resume or profile. There are no "secrets" in the recruiting process, it’s simply a marketing exercise and you, the athlete, are the product.
The aim of this website is simple, to make available every single statistic about field hockey and academic achievement we can about each individual varsity player to college coaches, scouts and recruiters to get you noticed without violating NCAA rules or player privacy information!
Roster, schedule, practices, game and player statistics are updated by the Coach. Individual player field hockey camp participation, field hockey and academic acheivements as well as current GPA are the responsibility of the player to provide the information to the coach. Although, no private information is disclosed about any player, parental consent is required to post player profiles other than game statistics, field hockey camps and field hockey related achievements that are in the public domain.
Parents can upload game photos to their own accounts on photobucket or google picasa and we can attached these photos to player profiles.
Parents can also submit scouting Field Hockey videos to be posted with player profiles. Field Hockey is a unique sport in the sense that much of recruiting takes place from video tape and coaches recommendations. We accept AVI, MPEG, QuickTime, Real, and Windows Media videos with a 100 MB maximum size.
The video should concentrate on the players skills within the phases of the game:
Possession Skills
Be able to maintain possession both individually and in pairs.
Tackling Skills
Don’t rush in - hold the stick in the left hand and back up until an opportunity arises.
Defensive Skills
Push your opponent to the sides.
Elimination Skills
Be able to take on an opponent one-on-one.
If you are serious about your game and taking it to the next level, this website is for you!
